Bios
Australian media theorist Ned Rossiter works as a Senior Lecturer in Media Studies (Digital Media) at the Centre for Media Research, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland and Adjunct Research Fellow, Centre for Cultural Research, University of Western Sydney. He is author of Organized Networks: Media Theory, Creative Labour, New Institutions (Rotterdam: NAi Publishers, 2006).
Els Slivrants is Artistic Director of Theatre in Motion (TIM)/beiLAB – a non-profit organization founded in 2005, building a context for the contemporary performing arts in China. TIM runs an international residency program, sets up workshops, undertakes research and organizes small scale curatorial projects in collaboration with festivals, art centres, theatres and academies in China. TIM is part of beiLAB, a hybrid of organizations and creative individuals representing different disciplines, conceived as a hub and meeting place for artistic, architectural, scientific and corporate communities researching China’s artistic, social and urban dynamics in all its greyscales.
Brian Holmes is a cultural critic, living in Paris, moving restlessly around the world. He is the author of the book Hieroglyphs of the Future: Art and Politics for a Networked Era (Zagreb: WHW, 2002), and is a frequent contributor to the international mailinglist Nettime, the art magazines Springerin (Austria) and Brumaria (Spain), and the interdisciplinary journal Multitudes (France). His latest collection of essays, Unleashing the Collective Phantoms, is currently in press (New York: Autonomedia). All his texts can be found at http://www.u-tangente.org.
Jiang Jun, designer and critic, has been working on urban research and experimental study, exploring the interrelationship between design phenomenon and urban dynamic. He founded Underline Office in Guangzhou in 2003, and has been the editor-in-chief of Urban China Magazine since the end of 2004, and is currently working on the book Hi-China. He is the translator of Tony Godfrey’s Conceptual Art, and Rem Koolhaas’ Bigness and Junkspace. He also teaches at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
